The original was done in RealBasic (now Xojo) and back in 2009 or 2010 (I forget) I was slowly working a complete rewrite in Revolution Runtime (now Livecode) when Apple got rid of the virtual number pad. In fact, I liked it so much that 15 or so years ago, I wrote a calculator for OS X that assumed the virtual number pad whether num lock was on or not. Just install Hammerspoon, choose "File >Open Config", paste this in, save, then go back to Hammerspooon and choose "Reload Config". It will make ctrl-shift-n toggle virtual numpad.
